by Kelvin Scottish Bus Company as part of a major reduction in services. The company plans to close down its mini-bus service that currently, runs between Milton and Glasgow city centre, with the loss of 25 drivers.
Milngavie bus depot will be closed and further sackings are expected at the Kilsyth and Old Kilpatrick depots. Kelvin Scottish says that 94 job losses were reluctantly agreed to by the TGWU at a meeting last week.
The action is the latest stage in the post-deregulation campaign by Scottish Bus Group, which includes Kelvin Scottish, to save money. This has led to intense competition between rival bus companies.
