IARINGEY COUNCIL in iorth London, have warned uilding contractors in the rea that if they drop mud on lie road they will be proseuted.

The get-tough warning is een as dealing with two roblems at once; to cut down ccidents from slippery road urfaces and to stop what the ouncil describe as "unsighty" roads.

Already one contractor has een prosecuted under section 0 of the Highways Act. The ouncil say they intend issuing lore summonses when the teed arises.

Mrs Eileen Garwood, chairnan of Haringey's Civic 1menities Committee said: We have had discussions vith the contractors in the last, but the time for talking is low over.

"Mud on the road is insightly and dangerous. ..ven a small quantity of mud an be responsible for an iccident."
