nPERATIONS of Belfast Corporation transport department for the 1964-5 year resulted in a surplus of £81,663. Although there was a deficit of £25,918 on the trolleybuses, the motorbus surplus amounted to £85,373, plus £22,208 interest on investments. The annual report shows that the surplus falls short by £31,352 of the amount of £113,015 which was the total of three successive deficits incurred over the period 1961-4: the loss might have been offset completely but for unofficial strikes of platform staff in December, 1964.
