GOLDSTAR HEATHROW has expanded its fleet ahead of relocating to a new 2.2-acre depot near the London airport.
The airfreight handling specialist has taken delivery of 12 new Mercedes-Benz Actros units from Rygor Commercials, expanding its all-Mercedes fleet to 75.
It is also preparing to move into its new depot in February, which will consolidate three of its four existing sites into one, said MD Charlie Fulk. “To win additional business you need more trucks. To get more trucks on the O-licence you need more space to park them. Now we have the additional space,” he said.
“Being able to have all of our staff on one site in Heathrow – where space is at a premium – will be beneficial.” Goldstar Heathrow now employs 170 people. “We have expanded over the past couple of years. It’s been a tough few years, but we are still making the margins and still hiring drivers,” said Fulk.
