Maintenance problems have resulted in the authorisation on the licence held by Telford, Shropshire-based Christopher Hughes, trading as Chris Hughes Haulage, being cut from 12 to seven vehicles by the West Midland Traffic Commissioner Nick Jones.
In reaching his decision, the TC took account of a series of undertakings given by Hughes.
These included an undertaking that the vehicles would receive roiling road brake tests every three months (not including the annual test) and that a random audit of safety inspections would be carried out on not less than three vehicles by an independent assessor with the results reported to the Traffic Area Office, In addition, all maintenance records would be kept for two years instead of for 15 months.
