• From next Spring VW aims to contest the 2.8 tonne GVW front-wheel-drive market but bodybuilders must wait until May 1991 for suppiies.
VW plans to import the 3.32m wheelbase singledouble cab version first with the shorter one and an aluminium drop-framed model to follow.
The longer chassis has a body/payload allowance of 1,435kg, giving a nominal 1,200kg allowance for payload and crew, The frame length of the ladder-type chassis is 2,878mm, with an unladen frame height of 636mm; the maximum body length is 3,107mm, With the double-cab, the body/payload allowance is reduced to 1 ,130kg, while the frame and maximum body lengths are shortened to 2,108 and 2,476mm respectively.
