g• Ulster haulier Dennisons Transport Services and one of its drivers have been found guilty of using a vehicle with defective steering following an accident with an abnormal load on the M6.
Other charges against the company and the driver, Kevin Ward, were dismissed by Coleshill magistrates, who fined Dennisons £150 and gave Ward an absolute discharge.
The Antrim firm and Ward both denied six charges of using a vehicle with lights and rear marker board unlit; one of carrying an excess width load; one of overloading by almost 27 tonnes; and one each of having defective brakes, steer
mg and tyre. The court was told a motorist died after running into the back of the truck on 24 November last year.
Two charges were withdrawn after defending solicitor Jonathan Lawton pointed out that the lights charges had been brought under an obsolete law.
