A French health insurance company commissioned a study of accidents occurring with tankers during loading and unloading, of which about 3,000 occur every year in France — mainly falls, burns and the inhaling of toxic gases. Many accidents are caused by poor connecting hoses. Tanks, it says, should be clearly labelled and hoses of different diameters used for incompatible products.
