Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Renault Vehicules lndustriels (RVI) is making a determined effort to maintain its leading position. Although the poor registration statistics for 1985 have been overcome, the French manufacturers are still facing a serious drop in prices. Discounts of 30% to 35% are the norm, an improvement on last year when 45% or more was common.

In the threeto five-tonne light commercial market, Renault has been overtaken by Peugeot which has 25.6% of the market compared with Renault's 21.6%. lveco has a 15.8% share, followed by Daimler-Benz with 12.4%. RVI's losses for 1986 could well be in the region of 1,000 million francs.
