Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• SP Tyres is about to launch a new drive-axle radial tyre on the British market. The Dunlop SP431 has a massive block-tread pattern, with a 21min initial depth and is regrooveable.

Mike Astin of SP says that the SP431 — which is designed to compliment the recently introduced SP321 steering-axle tyre — will cost 15% more than the old SP411 drive-axle tyre.

The SP431 will be available in six sizes: 9.00R20 14PR, 10.00R20 60PR and 11.00R20 16PR in tubed, and 10R22.5 14PR, 11R22.5 16PR and 12R22.5 16PR tubeless. The SP431 has been in production for the American market — using a different rubber compound — since July, and 15,000 have been made to date.

The SP431 — shown for the first time in Europe at the RHA conference — will benefit from SP's latest enhanced back-up package.'

• Foden is believed to be about to break new ground by offering air suspension and a lifting tag axle on its tractive units as factorybuilt options for the first time.

Ruhery Owen-Rockwell will supply Neway suspension systems and axles direct from its Llay factory near Wrexham to the Sandbach plant where they will be built into chassis as an on-line option.
