D EPRESENTATIVES of the Traders 1\•• Road Transport Association on Monday met officials of the Ministry of Transport to discuss the Ministry's proposed noise regulations for goods vehicles. The C-licensees pressed their case for a wider differential between new and existing vehicles than the proposed 3d BA.

It is felt that the results of tests so far carried out are not necessarily typical in that they relate to " ideal " road conditions. It has, in addition, been normal Ministry practice to allow a time lag after new regulations have come into force to cater for conversion of existing vehicles; the T.R.T.A. has asked for a two-year time-lag on the noise regulations in respect of existing vehicles.
