Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LONDON'S low-emission zone (LEZ) is continuing to generate business for independent used truck dealers and rental companies.

While many independents sell Euro3 stock to operators and export older non-compliant part-exchange vehicles, hauliers and own-account businesses struggling to find the right vehicle are turning to the long-term rental markets.

Nigel Martin, Ryder's director of commercial vehicles and rental sales, says rental depots in the South are witnessing high levels of demand for long-term rental deals following the arrival of the LEZs in London.

"The introduction of the LEZ, coupled with long lead times for the supply of new vehicles, has seen an increasing number of companies look towards rental vehicles as the solution to meet the requirements of delivering in Greater London.

"Our entire rental fleet is LEZ-compliant and there was such a huge level of enquiries for LEZ-corn pliant rental vehicles ahead of the 4 February deadline that we took the decision to re-focus on trucks above 7.5 tonnes and increase the numbers available in southern depots.

This has ensured that we have sufficient vehicles to meet the demands on existing and new customers with more than ever looking to rent for a period of 12 months or more," he says.
