Well, it's over. The biggest meet of trucks and drivers in the country, TruckFest Peterborough, has been and gone. Most of us at the show were unaware of the tragedy that happened during the event. Unfortunately, a driver was found dead in his truck. Our thoughts are very much with his family at this time.

The show itself was unusual, in that the traditional Peterborough bank holiday rain and storms didn't appear. TruckFest in sunshine was a novelty that many of us hadn't seen for many a year.

The TruckNet UKJCM/Truck & Driver stand was extremely busy, so busy that by the end of day one, we had given away all of the goodies, and most of day two's as well. Centrestage on the stand was our resident TruckFest DJ, who spent the two days of the show dealing out good tunes and attempting to hit passers-by with free gifts thrown from the back of the immaculate Prestons of Potto curtainside trailer, where his stand was set up. To complement the trailer attached to the front was a brand new Scania topliner, also from Prestons, specially liveried to commemorate its history from its steam traction business past to the present day.

On the other side of the stand was the first UK showing of the Strator, a bonneted lveco Stralis built in Holland. This certainly attracted the showgoers. attention, and also a fair number of people wearing Iveco polo shirts were observed giving it the onceover. With the news that a lveco Powerstar has been delivered to a haulier in Ireland, could the Strator become the truck of choice for those wanting a European bonneted truck?

Every year on the stand we try to promote drivers' health. This year, as before, we had a nurse offering blood pressure and glucose checks. These are hugely popular, and throughout the weekend the nurse and her capable assistant were kept extremely busy.

The TruckNet UK hospitality area at the rear of the stand was also busy, offering the users of TruckNet UK a place to sit, take a breather have a drink and meet other forum users face to face.

With the kind assistance of Tachodisc Ltd and Vosa, we had a wealth of information available on the upcoming Driver CPC, which seemed to be the major cause for concern/questions from those visiting the stand.
