THE requirements of many traders are for light vehicles which will transport a considerable built load, and in order to meet this demand Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., has just placed on the market a semi-forward-control edition of its popular one-tonner. In this new model, the standard body length will be 10 ft., and the price of the chassis £178, or as a standard van, -4-:.257. Delivery of chassis will conthence early in June, ancl of complete _vehicles during the third week of that Month. The specification of the new chassis is almost identical with that of the normal-control type, and the frame, which is of ample strength, is the same. It is straight, except for a massive, arched, inverted-U section cross-member between the rear-spring front brackets. The length of the normal van body is 7. ft. 6 ins., whilst the new model is 2 ft. 6 ins, longer, the width being 5 ft. and the height 5 ft. 3 ins., giving a capacity of just over 262 cubic ft.. as compared with 134 cubic ft.

Exceptibnal roominess is provided in

the cab, which is assisted by sloping the engine cowling downwards to the floorboards. The gear and hand-brake levers occupy their normal central-control positions, the only alteration being to set them forward at an angle. When in the neutral position, the gear lever lies parallel to the top of the sloping cowling, with the knob 1 ft. clear of it.

The clutch, brake and accelerator pedals are unobscured and well spaced. The horn and dimmer switches are mounted on the steering column, whilst the oil and petrol gauges, ammeter, throttle control and switches are all carried on the dashboard.

A good appearance and excellent protection are afforded by wide, strong front wings brought low at the front. Protection is afforded by a bumper, whilst an effective guard shields the radiator.

The brakes are of the same pattern as those used on the normal-control model, and the vehicle is adequately tyred, those at the front being 6.00-20, and at the rear 30-in. by 5-in., 'singles being employed all round.
