CARDIFF-BASED construction haulier Amodeo Haulage has gone into liquidation owing an estimated £281,000 to creditors.
Following a meeting of creditors on 28 February, practitioners at Begbies Traynor were appointed to wind-up the business.
A statement of affairs iled at Companies House reveals that fellow Cardiff haulier XL Freight is owed almost £35,000.
When CM contacted XL Freight, Andrew Thomas conirmed he was the son of director William Thomas and that there was “no hope” of the company receiving payment. He also conirmed that William’s other son, Michael, was a transport manager at Amodeo Haulage.
“I don’t want to talk about it, it’s a long complicated thing that goes back a long time,” he adds.
Last month, Begbies Traynor partner Peter Dewey said Amodeo Haulage, which had a licence for 10 vehicles and 15 trailers, was operating at a substantial surplus up until April 2009.
However, the economic downturn and falling turnover over the subsequent three years hit the irm hard.
