Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bristol brick haulier IFR Dunkerley has closed down for good rather than carry on working for a former customer doing the same work as before for less money.

Dunkerley is a family firm which has been delivering bricks and blocks for 53 years.

It ceased trading on the last day of February after two of its major customers decided to give all Its work to one unnamed haulier, which wanted to subcontract the work to Dunkerley at a lower rate. "We weren't prepared to do the work at those rates—the customer wanted one, cheaper haulier and that's what they've got," says a spokesman.

"We did think about trying to carry on but there's more money to be made letting out property than there is in haulage."

Auctioneers Malcolm Harrison will sell the firm's 18 brick loaders, trailers and assorted items on 31March. Contact: 01782 372966.
