QA few months ago one of our vans hit overhead power lines that had been brought down. The roof rack was wrecked and the roof was damaged. We later learnt that a goose had flown into the lines, bringing them down.
The electricity board is ignoring any claim against it lour insurance is not comprehensive) as it says it was not its fault. I can understand that it was not negligent, but surely it is responsible?

AIf the goose had only just flown into the lines you may have some difficulty but, in any case, there is a duty on the electricity board to ensure that overhead powerlines withstand minor collisions and 1 would think a goose would fall into this category.
Your insurance broker may be able to take up your claim under the "uninsured loss recovery" part of your policy — if not, then you must resort to your solicitor.
