Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Renault Truck Industries is stepping up its attack on the UK heavy tipper market by reducing the tare weight of its G290, 30D eight-legger.

At a tipper demonstration in a Bedfordshire quarry last week, RTI exhibited a G290.301) with Norde rubber suspension on the back bogie in place of the standard Hendrickson all-steel suspended bogie. RTI says that rubber suspension reduces the kerbweight by some 250kg.

The rubber option will be evaluated and if trials prove successful, it will become an option.

RTI says a further 340kg could be lost from the G290.30D's tare weight if alloy wheels are fitted all round, and wide single tyres are used on the rear axle.

A G290.301) with rubber suspension and alloy wheels tips the scales at under 10,000kg, fully fuelled and with an alloy body, says RTI.

The first right-hand-drive six and eight-wheel rigids fitted with the new G-range cab — seen at the Geneva and Amsterdam shows — are expected to make their debut in the UK around June/July.

To coincide with the arrival of the new-cab G rigids, RTI may also uprate the engines fitted in its six and eightwheelers.

As reported in Commercial Motor, the existing 194kW (260hp) 9.8-litre MIDS engine used in the G260.24D 6X4 could be superceded by the high-powered 216kW (290hp) version of the same chargecooled engine currently fitted in the (1290.301). The eightwheeler would then gain the 243kW (326hp) MIDR 06.20.45 engine fitted in the G320.

The first right-hand-drive G range model to be seen with the latest cab will, however, be the G200 17-tonner.
