• Seddon Atkinson is making more redundancies at its Oldham truck manufacturing plant as part of its "general slimming down process".
The manufacturer says: "We are looking for further volunteers for redundancy or early retirement."
Seddon Atkinson refuses to say how many job cuts are expected. Industry sources believe about 90 jobs could be lost from a workforce of 510. The manufacturer has been operating on a four-day week since November.
Last week's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures showed truck registrations for the Oldham manufacturer had slid by 38% to 226 vehicles in January and February. Sales of commercial vehicles for all manufacturers dropped an average 11%.
