June 9, 1944 Editor: G. Mackenzie Junner WE would have liked all those who are interested in the formation of the proposed Institute of Road Transport Engineers to have been present at the meetings of the organising committee and of the subcommittee which is dealing with the draft memorandum and articles of association. They would, no doubt, have been agreeably surprised at the great enthusiasm and energy displayed at these gatherings, each of which occupied some hours. The difficulties of bringim together so many engineer who, under the stress of war time conditions, are workinl all hours of the day, and ofto some of those of the night, cat be fully realised. It is only wit! the greatest effort that most o the organisers can spare eve brief periods away from thei various tasks; consequent12 their valued hours of leisun are being generously curtail& to further the interests of thei fellows and of the industry as whole. In doing this they an not actuated by any selfist motive, the ultimate succes which we hope will crowr their labours being the onl;5.. reward they seek.
