Renault Trucks & Buses UK Ltd is looking well ahead to our hundredth birthday. It sees that as a time when vehicles will have made significant advances in style, power and configuration.

Aerodynamics and drag will grow in importance even beyond today's priorities. Weights will increase, or will they? Materials will be lighter. Plastic engine blocks, encapsu lated in as yet little known materials, will all be part of the basic vehicle. Brought together they could make an exciting concept for the RTB Award.

The Eighties and beyond will see developments in transport organisation over the Channel. Trade with our European partners must increase if Europe is to emerge from recession and remain a force in the world.

Transport people will have a big part to play, but how should our forces be marshalled, trained and deployed? P&O European Transport Services are co-sponsoring an award tc help us discover how the in dustry sees the development.

In addition to the £100C award in each class, there wil be opportunities for the winners to visit research and develop. ment laboratories, traffic ter. minals, and maintenance or ganisations in the UK and 0mainland Europe.
