Mr. Swatman has been chief engineer, turbine operations, engineering staff, Ford Motor Co, USA, since 1966 and engaged exclusively in gas turbine design since joining Ford 10 years previously. English-born Mr. Swatman held engineering posts with three British and US turbine manufacturers before joining Ford: he became a US citizen in 1955 and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
