• The new central bus station and car park to be built for the County Borough of Preston, Lanes, will form the largest road passenger transport building in Britain— with 80 arrival and departure "gates".
Work on the E1,082,000 project, which was planned over a period of eight years, starts soon and is due for completion by John Laing Construction Ltd. in a contract period of 18 months. It will speed the turnround of buses as it has direct access to the new inner relief road. Pedestrian subways from the town centre are a safety feature.
