• The first meeting of the North Western Tipping Liaison Committee of the Road Haulage Association, held on Monday, discussed tender forms issued by the National Coal Board for the haulage of industrial coal in the North West.
In the past, individual colliery transport officers made their own haulage arrangements but following a recent approach by certain hauliers for a 15 per cent uplift in the rates, the NCB has decided on a national policy that in the future all work should be put out to tender.
