Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Government has agreed to halve the 10s toll charge for buses using the Tay road bridge, enabling the 7d surcharge on passenger fares to come down probably to 2d. This was stated by Lord Hughes, Joint Undersecretary for Scotland, in reply to a question by the Earl of Dundee.

The Tay Bridge Joint Board had sub mitted a proposal to reduce the toll for scheduled services buses to 2s 6d in.order to eliminate the 7d surcharge. Now the Board is to submit a formal proposal to the Government on the lines announced by Lord Hughes.

Lord Provost Alex Mackenzie of Dundee said he hoped the move to reduce toll charges would increase commercial transport to and from the city.
