the Birmingham district of BR.S., succeeding Mr. S. W. Mack who is retiring. Since 1949 Mr. Collins has been Birmingham branch manager, and latterly district manager designate. Mr. Mack has been in road haulage since 1923 when he was a founder partner of Bowler and Mack. After disposing of his interest in that company he joined Transport Services Ltd. in 1940 and became managing director of West Midland Roadways Ltd. in 1944. He has been the Birmingham district manager for British Road Services since 1949.
Mr. R. V. Pohlman, chairman of the. Chilterns Area of the T.R.T.A. for the past nine years, was presented with a tray of cut glass liqueur glasses and decanter at the annual general meeting last week. Mr. A. R. C. Roskilly was elected chairman and Mr. R. Scanes, M. H. Smith and Mr. W. Coulter were elected vice-chairmen Mr. W. Norman Hart has been appointed deputy chairman of Kerry's (Great Britain) Ltd., retaining his position as managing director of the Kerry Group. Mr. M. S. Norton and Mr. H. T. Kernsley, previously general managers of the company, have been appointed to the board of directors, Mr. Norton continuing as a director of Kerry's Tyre Services Ltd. Mr. R. J. Cooper has been elected chairman of the R.H.A. West Bromwich sub-area, and Mr. F. G. S. Hodson vicechairman.
Mr. A. J. Hampson has been appointed traffic superintendent of Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Ltd., at the Rugby depot.
Two senior technical advisors in the technical division of Michelin Tyre Co. Ltd., Mr. .1. L. Johnson and Mr. Lloyd Barnes, received awards for 25 years' service at a presentation held at the company's Stoke-on-Trent factory recently.
Mr.R.Shipp has been appointed spares and repairs manager of Taskers of Andover (1932) Ltd., in succession to the late Mr. R. W. Morgan.
Herr A. Maier, technical director of Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen AG. Germany, has had an Honorary Degree of Dr.-Ing.h.c. conferred on him by the Technical University of Stuttgart for his contribution to mechanical engineering in the field of transmission technology.
Mr. H. C. Chadwick has been appointed parts manager of AllisChalmers Great Britain Ltd., of Lincolnshire.
Mr. H. F. Barr has been elected vicepresident of the General Motors Corporation in charge of the engineering staff. He succeeds Mr. C. A. Chayne who has retired.
Mr. P. A. Griffiths has been appointed transport finishes representative of Blundell, Spence and Co. Ltd., for Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
