• The North Eastern district of the Road Haulage Association has asked the Humber Bridge Board to clarify its position on abnormal loads following the inspectors' report on the bridge public enquiry.
The report claims there is confusion over administrating abnormal-load rates as it is unclear whether the levy falls into the band of "any other services rendered by the bridge board".
As the vast majority of abnormal loads are not escorted across the bridge, the study says: "It is difficult to appreciate what other services are rendered." It urges the board to consider a provision for abnormal loads in any new tolls order.
