• Battery specialist Chloride is set to sell its Exide vehicle battery business to Compagnie Generale d'Electricite for £55 million.
Rockwood buys
• Distribution group Rockwood Holdings is set to buy the Interfreight Group for an initial 24.4m. Interfreight, which is based in West Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, is involved in shipping and forwarding European goods and equipinent to East and Central Africa and their local distribution by associate or subsidiary companies.
