a rustic note during a weekend rave-up from July 19-21 by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society at Thornes Park, Wakefield. The event is sponsored by Northern Commercials (Mirfield), DAF dealers.
Entry, admission and car parking are all free, so last year's record turn-out of 225 exhibits and crop of 12,000 spectators is hardly surprising. Festivities will include a fire-engine rally and on July 21 a run for historic commercial vehicles from Pontefract Park through the rolling West Riding to Top Farm, via Selby. There can be few more pleasant ways of spending a summer Sunday.
