Mr. F. A. Smith has joined A.E.C. as spare parts manager. He was previousl administration manager of Charles Colston, Ltd., High Wycombe.

Mr. Beetham succeeds Mr. P. A. Hornblow who is to take up an appointment with an associated undertaking abroad Mr. R. McCracken has been appointed chief engineer of Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., in succession to the late Mr. W. H. Dickie. Mr. McCracken joined Central S.M.T. as assistant engineer in September, 1960. He started his career with Alexanders, Falkirk, in 1931 and in 1946 joined B.R.S., eventually becoming engineer of the West Lothian Group. Before returning to Central S.M.T. he was employed as works engineer at Peterhead.

Mr. Hamish Scott has been appointed assistant secretary of Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd. He succeeds Mr. T. I. Kinley, who was recently appointed secretary of the company. Mr. Scott joined the company in 1960. Mr. C. W. Page has been elected a director of Castrol Industrial, Ltd. This follows his recent appointment as general manager-of the industrial division of that company.

A bronze medal has been awarded to Mr. E. Kellett, manager of the Turbocharger Division of C.A.V., Ltd., for a paper presented by him recently to the Swedish Institute of Mechanical Engineers (Svenska Teknologforeningen). The paper, "Small Turbochargers and their Application to Automotive Diesel Engines," was read at a conference on motor vehicle design techniques.

Lainson; hon. treasurer, Mr. F. Broomfield; area chairmen: East Midland, Mr. A. Skill; Scotland, Mr. W. Dodds; Western, Mr. S. G. Bellamy; Yorkshire, Mr. M. A. Hargreaves; North Western, Mr. S. T. Ireland: South Wales, Mr. A. E. Brewer; West Midland, Mr. W. H. Austin; London and Home Counties, Mr. C. C. Hutchinson.

Obituary

WE regret to record the death of Mr. V/. F. Ebbs and Mr. W. Wompra.

Mr. Ebbs was transport manager of the Dublin hauliers, Thomas Gray and Co., Ltd., and was treasurer of the Dublin Carriers' Association.

Mr. Wompra was managing director of Overland Services, Ltd., transport operators, of Newport Road, Middlesbrough He was 65.
