Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Marcel who?

Take a stroll with us through the little side roads of haulage, the diversions and detours, the quirky, the quixotic and the downright strange...

You've booked the conference, bought the cake and hired the obligatory celebrity guest speaker for your 10th anniversary celebrations. So what could possibly go wrong?

Well, parcels company ARC Overnight found out exactly what when the celeb in question, Big "mistake" Ron, uttered his infamous remarks about the black Chelsea footballer Marcel Desailly at the tail end of April.

Presumably, finding a Boardman, Manning or a Chubby Brown to fill the tanned man's boots in time for the occasion was not possible. APC opted for the grin-and-bare-it technique instead and resolutely kept their man for the big occasion.

And admirably, it appears that the ex-soccer pundit has not rested on his laurels and been, in his own delicate words, "f***ing lazy" after his career trajectory took a somewhat John Leslie dip. Nope, he's currently making money on the guest appearance circuit, cutting cakes and, as the photos show, keeping operators entertained as only he knows how.

"Ron's unique brand of humour completely charmed the audience, even those who do not particularly follow football," gushed ARC director of communications, Vince Friery, in his company's newsletter, before quipping "Just to confirm that Marcel Desailly was not in the audience!"

Aside from the fact that one of CM's editorial team was bored enough to photograph the back end of a tanker while sitting in a jam on England's biggest car park, the M25, you have to marvel at the condition of the six-year-old sticker attached to it. This "Trailer of the Year 1998" winner has kept its proof of triumph cleaner and less bedraggled than most of our copies of CM from the same year. And we don't plaster them to the back of our vehicles and drive up and down the country's roads all day either...
