• Police are appealing for a truck driver who saved a baby's life after an accident on the M6 to come forward to receive thanks.
Stafford police say the driver swapped from the inside to the centre lane when he saw a sevenmonth-old baby flung out of a car. By braking in front of the child he shielded her from other traffic and saved her life.
The accident happened around 13:00hrs on 6 July on the southbound section near Junction 13. Baby Sonia Parveet escaped with a cut eyelid, after she was thrown out of the rear window. She had been sitting on her mother's lap.
