BRADFORD TO GIVE UP HIRING
BR ADFORD dispense with hired vehicles for refuse collection when its own fleet is completed by the addition of 15 Karrier Bantams. They are to be delivered in April, 1950
With six othec vehicles on order for delivery this year, the additions will bring the number in the fleet to 59, including lorries, sweepers, • gully emptiers and the director of cleansing's car.
The director (Mr. J. W. Call), told a correspondent that when the fleet was complete there would be 33 refuse collectors. One reason for displacing hired vehicles was that their comparatively high loading line made the work of emptying bins much more laborious than in the case of a specialized vehicle.
