Three-year old Daf 95XFs have the 430hp, 480hp or 530ho 12.6-litre XE engine, but the two higher ratings are the most sought-after.
Buyers prefer artics with a low mileage but long-distance trunkers may be clocking up 80-100,000km a year, so give the service records close scrutiny and call the workshop responsible if necessary.
Big double-bunk cabs are a popular choice but they move a lot so examine the mountings and suspension. See that they've been lubricated properly. Check out the mirror functions too.
Check the wind deflector kit is in good condition, especially the mounting bolts and hinges, 5 A sliding fifth wheel allows it to couple to most suitable trailers, but check the ratchet and locking mechanisms. See if its been properly lubricated and look at the chassis end, and the lead-on ramps 6 Check the operation of the mid-lift axle; does it raisE fully, and does the air suspension deflate and reinf late properly to its normal or pre-set ride height?
Long-distance operators want large-capacity fuel tanks, or even twin tanks so that they don't have to buy fuel from expensive service points. Examine thE seams around the lower end for damage, and look at the mounting straps and liners.
Examine the cab paint, especially around the front air dams, and along the sides. Check for signs of panel repairs or cheap respray work.
