tEGISTRATIONS OF L1GIII 2Vs in the Irish Republic fell durrig 2003, but HGV registrations were up.
Van registrations at 30,409 were lown 11.9% on 2002's figure of 4,499. However, at 4.102 HGV egistrations were up 7.5% on ,002's 1816, according to the Soci:ty of the Irish Motor Industry SIMI) which issues the figures.

He urges Transport Minister Seamus Brennan TD to be cautious in the number of roads that may be tolled, to avoid levying more than one payment per journey: "Tolling may be a necessary evil if it guarantees the development of a comprehensive, first-rate road system in Ireland," he says. "But tolling should not be seen as a cash cow for the private sector, or the government."
