• A van driver who raced ahead of a truck to a motorway bridge and threw a brick at its cab has been jailed for twoand-a-half years.

Gillingham van driver Clive Masters told Maidstone Crown Court that he was only standing on the bridge to take down the number of the truck driven by Michael Runeckles. The brick missed the windscreen but hit the cab making a hole just above Runeckles' head.

The incident followed a game of cat and mouse after the van pulled on to the M2 in Kent. Runeckles flashed his lights and Masters started braking heavily in front of the truck, the court heard.

Runeckles told the court that every time he moved into another lane to avoid the van, Masters would manoeuvre his vehicle in front of the truck. It then sped off and the next time he saw it was beside its driver who threw a brick off the motorway bridge.
