Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CAPAMIES up to 1,500 cu. ft. and lengths up to 33 ft. 6 in. are offered in a range of fast-discharge hopper pressure tankers just announced by Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. Designed to carry powdered and other relatively heavy dry bulk products, the tankers are at present made in carbon steel, but aluminium types will become available later.

The container has tapered front and rear ends, external ring construction, and the entire vessel is pressurized with the void areas in the front and rear ends carrying the same pressure as the product compartment.

Pressurizing of the void end compartments is achieved through the first and last external rings. These rings are continuously welded all around the vessel to form an air passage channel. Air from the product compartment is conducted through openings in the too of the inside shell and ring. It circulates through the ring and enters the voids through holes at the bottoms of the rings.

Little, if any, of the product gets into the external rings through the equalizing of pressure. Two air dump valves, to release pressure in the vessel, are installed in the bottom of both the first and last external rings, Extension handle controls are within easy reach of the operator.

These dump valves perform the additional function of clearing the ring air channels of product dust or condensation which might get into the rings.

Conical hoppers are built integrally into the cylindrical body, with the hopper flow sheets extending smoothly from the bases of the cones to the ton of the vessel.

Air for unloading the trailer is provided by a diesel or petrol engine counled to a blower or coMoressor and mounted on the trailer unit. Alternatively, it may be provided by a tractor-mounted blower or compressor driven by Dower take-off.

A very high discharge rate is claimed. Crane Fruehauf say that . in an actual customer Lest. unloading over a distance of 125 ft. (20 ft. horizontal, 105 ft. ver A26

The three underslung hopper products outlets are in the form of 5-in. butterfly valves through which the material passes to a 4-in. manifold line. A 20-ft. discharge hose, 4 in. in diameter, is supplied. Three

20-in, airtight manholes are provided. The tank unit is mounted on Crane Fruehauf standard F2 running gear.
