Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DURING the first week of the Cardin pantomime season takings were 099 down, compared with last year. the South Wales Licensing Authority was told at Cardiff last week. This evidence was given by a producer in support of an application by Mr. 1. L. Arnould, of Fleur-de-Lys, for a licence to carry parties from Bargoed to the Cardiff pantomime.

De.cision was reserved on the Cardiff application, which was opposed by Red and White Services, Ltd., Dobson's Motors, Cardiff Corporation and the Gelligaer and Caerphilly Councils, but art unopposed application to carry parties from Cefn to a Newport theatre was granted.

Mr. R. Freedman, for Mr. Arnould, said that pantomime organizers were "horrified" this year by the "terrific reduction in bookings."

Mr. R. Phillips, manager of the New Theatre, Cardiff, said that whereas normally 15 to 20 buses carried patrons from the valleys to the pantomime each night', this year only eight buses had so far taken parties. There had been no block bookings this season. The public did not make use of the licences granted to the big companies.
