2% average at Stena line FERRY COMPANY Stena Line's annual results for 2006 indicate a 2% increase in freight traffic using its routes compared with the previous year.

Stena's freight business is said to have expanded to almost 1.8 million freight vehicles transported per year.

The majority of freight units carried by the Scandinavian line were between the UK and Scandinavia (around nine million). followed by Ireland (five million) and the Continent (four million). Stena Line chief executive Gunnar Blomdahl says: "Stena Line's strength is in its combination of passenger and freight business.This is one of the reasons why our financial results for 2006 exceeded expectations."

The greatest increases in freight business were recorded on the Karlskrona to Gdynia route (up 19%) the Dublin to Holyhead route (up I2%); the Rosslare to Fishguard route (up 12%); and the Goteborg to Travemfinde route (up 8%).
