▪ The acquisition of parcels firm City Link helped Securiguard almost double pre-tax profits to £6.2 million in 1989.
Despite optimistic forecasts for the coming year, City Link has refused to comment on the loss of its Red Star contract which ends in March. Red Star changed from using one main carrier to more than 100 separate smaller hauliers after the City Link takeover last year.
