I HE fRANSPOR 1 and General Workers' Union's dispute over Liverpool haulage drivers' wage rates has been narrowed to a Transport Development Group subsidiary.

TGwu members at William Harper and Sons voted last Saturday to give 28 days' notice of strike action if the company does not fall into line with the £6 across-theboard agreement signed by 53 other companies in the area ((:M, February 8).

According to TGWU officer Jim Goldbourne, Harper wants the mion to drop its policy of a 515km (320-mile) daily driving limit based on a 65km/1i (40mph) maximum speed.

Harper will not be drawn on the subject, beyond saying: "The position is that we are in negotiation and have no comment to make."

One other, smaller, company has refused to sign the agreement, but TGWU members there have still to decide what action they may take.
