POTENTIAL providers o innovative rural transport set vices are being invited to bi for their shares of a )A milliĀ° fund being administered b the Development Commis sion for England.
The scheme, similar t separate Welsh and Scottis Office funds, is designed t help start new rural transpoi services for areas wit populations of fewer cha 10,000 and offers up to 50 pc cent of the costs of the prc jects.
The commission is tellin. potential operators that thei services should benefit th populations of the areas the serve, and that they silo& provide details of how th service will satisfy needs, hot often it will run and for hot long.
Existing services are on likely to qualify for suppot unless they are extended inc new areas.
The support is also largel conditional on county trans port co-ordinators' verifica tion of applicants' prediction and on assurances that th service is managed properl with cover for vehicl breakdowns.
