BY employing a Dodge normalcontrol 7-loaner with a Boys thirdaxle conversion and Eaton two-speed axle, Mr. R. E. Greatbatch, of R.E.G. Transport, Curdworth, near Birmingham, can carry a 13-ton payload at a fuel-consumption rate of 13.9 m.p.g. With a standard Dodge 7-tonner, the payload is approximately 7+ tons and the fuel-consumption rate is 15.9 m.p.g. The six-wheeler is powered by a Perkins R.6 oil engine, whilst the fourwheeler is equipped with a Perkins P.6 unit.

Supplied by Kays (Derby),. Ltd., Ashbourne Road, Derby, Dodge Midland distributors, the six-wheeler, _including a special wooden body of 18-cu.-yd. capacity and twin-ram tipping gear (also a cab heater and chromiumplated fittings) cost £2,975. The price of the standard 7-ton tipper is £2,108.

The vehicle is the first of six similar models which will be supplied to the operator, who decided on the purchase because of the fuel crisis.
