NEXT MONTH's threatened steel strike could pose longterm problems for major manufacturers.
Leyland Vehicles Ltd says it has reasonable stocks at present, but much depends upon how long the strike lasts. Bedford is in a similar condition, but it cannot speak for its component suppliers' position.
Seddon Atkinson and Dodge were happy with their stocks, and York Trailer said it was helped by having access to foreign steel.
