Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IETY of Motor Manufacturers and lers president Sir Barrie Heath called an end to uncifficial strikes in the )r industry when he addressed the .ty's annual banquet in London this c. He dismissed suggestions that lack of investment, poor management, or bad work standards were to blame for the motor industry's problems in Britain, but said the main problem lay with the large number of unofficial strikes.

"I must be careful not to create the false impression that every company in the motor industry is bedevilled by strikes. This is not so. There are many which enjoy excellent industrial relations.

"But industrial action means lost production, and we cannot compete if we do not produce. The people of this country want higher living standards and low unemployment.

He went on to say: "Let us go into 1979 with not one stoppage in the whole motor' industry. Let us start up again after New Year's Day with a clean slate.
