CIONAL Carriers Ltd has gained anr specialist arm to its activities by uiring the business of Publishers ksellers Delivery Services (PBDS) new company — PBDS (National lers) Ltd — has been formed to take the specialist book delivery firm's vides from March 11 next year.
BDS managing director Don Cook bees chief executive of the new firm, y Addision remains operations direcand Giles Pitman will join the board. le 85-vehicle PBDS fleet is based at sden, Southport, Gatwick, Doner, Old Sodbury, Atherstone and Glasgow. PBDS employs around 215 people, all of whom will be offered jobs with the new State-owned company.
Commenting on the new future for the company which is owned at present by publisher Pitman Ltd, Don Cook said: "Being a member of the National Carriers Group, PBDS will guarantee customers long term stability of service and offer the best prospect of securing specialist skills and abilities of both staff and managers."
NCL group managing director Brian Hayward said: "The acquisition of PBDS business fits in with National Carriers' 'ongoing policy' of providing specialist distribution services."
