Bill Kirkland has filled a new junior executive post at South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive. He is now controller of engineering and building services, after serving as chief engineer since 1973. The new position is at the same management level as that of operations and planning controller and puts Mr Kirkland in overall charge of SYPTE's engineering and property functions. He will take up the post in the spring.
S. I. Hyslop moves from the West Yorkshire PTE to the Borough of Darlington Transport, where he is now assistant transport manager. J. J. Carey has also recently joined Darlington Transport as operating superintendent. He was previously with Merseyside PTE as divisional inspector.
The Borough of Preston Transport's deputy general manager Colin Riding has been promoted to general manager in place of J. T. Langley who has retired.
