Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INTERNATIONAL hauliers were hit this week by a strike of Italian veterinary inspectors at the Mont Blanc tunnel border with France.

The inspectors, who are responsible for passing all vehicles which carry livestock and perishable goods into and out of Italy, went on strike on Monday and were due to resume work next week.

All vehicles carrying animals, meat, vegetables, fruit, and flower bulbs are being stopped. Even TIR vehicles have been affected because the veterinary inspectors are responsible for stamping their clearance forms.

It only affects traffic using the Mont Blanc tunnel entrance at Aosta, but this is one of the busiest routes for such goods.

A spokesman for one major haulier told CM that he had been given enough advance warning of the strike to send a lorry through to Italrbefore the strike began. He added that he would not send anymore through until the strike ends,
