Monopoly Issue Raised.

Some 90 yards of route outside Glasgow Corporation's boundary was the subject of a strong contest at a sitting of the Southern Scotland Traffic Com

missioners. The municipal authority sought permission to operate from Radnor Park to Carmyle, and was opposed by Lanarkshire Traction Co.

For the latter it was stated that the corporation had a complete monopoly inside its boundary and it would be unfair to allow the authority to compete with others outside the municipal area.

The corporation was subsidizing unprofitable services at the expense of ratepayers, for the benefit of persons residing outside the area. The Commissioners reserved their decision.
