testing station hit List

VOSA IS TO cease testing at nine further vehicle testing stations by the end of March 2014.

The affected stations are in Caine, Cardiff, Beverley, Edinburgh, Kidderminster, Northampton, Southampton, Wolverhampton and Wrexham. The exact dates on which each will cease testing have not been determined, a Vosa spokeswoman said.

No decisions have been taken for the next financial year, either, she said: "However, our strategy of taking testing closer to the customer will continue as planned and more tests will be carried out at authorised testing facilities [ATFs], away from Vosa test stations."

In the longer term, she added,Vosa's strategy remains "to transfer all testing to privately owned sites".

About 70% of tests are conducted at nonVosa sites as part of the agency's Testing Transforming Programme The 350th ATF opened last month (CM1 August).
